Playing Golf

The North Berwick Golf Club - A true Links course, starting in the town centre and stretching west along the shores of the Firth of Forth. You will be as impressed with stunning views over sandy beaches, rocky islands and the hills of Fife to the north, as you will with a course which features the best of traditional links design.

The Glen Golf Club - This North Berwick East Links course enjoys superb views across the Firth of Forth and provides an enjoyable test of golf for all levels of player.

Muirfield - Muirfield is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers whose records date back to 1744. The club has hosted the Open many times as well as the Ryder , Walker and Curtis Cups.

St Andrews - St Andrews Links is the Home of Golf, where the game evolved and where the spirit and traditions of golf have been safeguarded for over six centuries. Not strictly in East Lothian but well worth a visit if you have the time.

Luffness - Founded in 1894 and situated in the heart of the renowned golfing country on the East Lothian coastline neighbouring Gullane, Muirfield and North Berwick Golf Clubs. Visitors are very welcome by prior appointment.

Gullane - Gullane Golf Club offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife.

Dunbar - Designed around 1850, the Dunbar East Links course has hosted all the major Scottish Championships. A challenging course for all levels of players.

Restaurants

The Nether Abbey Hotel in North Berwick has a seasonal menu offering the very best in locally sourced, beautifully prepared and delicious meals.

The Bay Restaurant at the Scottish Seabird Centre specialises in seafood and locally sourced produce to create inspirational mouth-watering menus, served in an informal candlelit ambience.

The Rocks Restaurant and Bar in Dunbar serves high quality meals using the best locally sourced produce, much of which is organic.

East Lothian Yacht Club is one of the premier sailing clubs in Scotland with a magnificent expanse of water from the sandy beaches and harbour to the Bass Rock and the North Sea beyond.

East Lothian Divers is a branch of the Scottish Sub Aqua Cluband actively dive all year round, weather permitting and operate mainly out of Dunbar.

Coast to Coast Surf School provides friendly British Surf Association qualified surf instruction that introduces beginners and intermediates to the fun and enjoyment of Scotlands beautiful coastline.

North Berwick Kayak Club

Raceland is Scotland's number one outdoor leisure karting centre using the latest 70 mph Sodi karts. There is also an indoor circuit for those wet and wintry days.

Castles and Historic places of interest

Tantallon Castle is a might impressive ruin, Dating from around 1358 it was a formidable stronghold set atop the cliffs overlooking the Firth of Forth. Now managed by Historic Scotland who also manage nearby Direlton Castle and Gardens

The Museum of Flight at East Fortune occupies the site of a former RAF airfield and has many fascinating aircraft including the world famous Concorde

The Myreton Motor Museum houses a large collection of cars, bicycles, motor cycles and commercial vehicles dating back to 1899
